Loyal Pains

You grow up

To learn that loyalties

Are mostly exchangeable.

Paid by a price

Sometimes discounted by aesthetics

And at other times,

Bartered by materialistic means,

Promised of greener pastures.

Loyalties are exchanged like money changes hands

And here I am holding on to

The first hand pains and realisation

That loyalty is a seven letter word

Easily auctioned for seven grand.
