He didn’t feel pain. Ribs splintered, a muffling groan.
The ground was too clean, softened by the carpet as it welcomed his frame.
On the best day of his life, he heard the roar, deafening sounds, and screams. An impending stampede.
He distinctly noticed the blood pooling around his well-pressed shirt as he lay on the cushioned ground.
The elation was surreal, adrenaline now rushing back up for survival. Had he expected this bullet?
He’d had a passing thought but he knew it wouldn’t deter his spark or his noise.
The victory still prevailed. In death.
